چکیده

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Lactobacillus zeae LB2 on gut microbiota in piglets infected with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). Thirty-two healthy 7-day-old were randomly divided into four treatment groups: control group (basal diet), (supplemented 1 × 108 CFU/pig/day L. LB2), ETEC (infected 1010 ETEC) and ETEC+LB2 (LB2 supplementation + infection). Intestinal contents collected for DNA extraction Illumina sequencing. Significant result observed alpha diversity intestinal sections, both infection showed a higher Chao1 diversity. At phylum level, Firmicutes Bacteroidetes dominant piglets, while Proteobacteria ETEC-infected piglets. genus decreased abundance Prevotella, Ruminococcaceae, Lactobacillus, Alloprevotella, Flavobacterium, Sutterella increased Actinobacillus. The reduced Actinobacillus, Porphyromonas, Prevotella Lactobacillus. Both affected several functional pathways associated cellular processes, environmental information processing, genetic diseases, metabolism, organismal systems. In summary, induced dysbiosis microbiome could positively regulate during infection. Therefore, may be an ideal probiotic prevention or

Lysozyme improves gut performance and protects against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli infection in neonatal piglets

Diarrhea remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality globally, with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) constituting a major causative pathogen. The development of alternative treatments for diarrhea that do not involve chemotherapeutic drugs or result in antibiotic resistance is critical. Considering that lysozyme is a naturally occurring antimicrobial peptide, in a previo...

Virulence plasmids of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli isolates from piglets.

Virulence plasmids of 68 ETEC isolates from piglets belonging to different pathotypes and six ETEC isolates from calves with pathotypes typical of porcine ETEC were identified with seven virulence probes for the heat-stable (STa and STb) and heat-labile (LT) enterotoxins, for the F4, F5, F6, and F41 fimbrial adhesion subunit, and also with five Rep probes for the RepFIA and RepFIB basic replico...

Lactobacillus zeae Protects Caenorhabditis elegans from Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli-Caused Death by Inhibiting Enterotoxin Gene Expression of the Pathogen

BACKGROUND The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans has become increasingly used for screening antimicrobials and probiotics for pathogen control. It also provides a useful tool for studying microbe-host interactions. This study has established a C. elegans life-span assay to preselect probiotic bacteria for controlling K88(+) enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), a pathogen causing pig diarrhea,...

Effect of Lactobacillus plantarum on diarrhea and intestinal barrier function of young piglets challenged with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli K88.

The present study was performed to investigate the preventative effect of Lactobacillus plantarum on diarrhea in relation to intestinal barrier function in young piglets challenged with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) K88. Seventy-two male piglets (4 d old) were assigned to 2 diets (antibiotic-free basal diet with or without L. plantarum, 5 × 10(10) cfu/kg diet) and subsequently challen...

Effect of bacteriophage in enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) infected pigs.

We evaluated effect of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) specific lytic phage CJ12 in ETEC infected pigs. Phage was mixed with feed at a ratio of 1:1,000 (0.1%). One week after initially providing phage mixed feed, pigs were challenged orally with 10(11) CFU of ETEC and body weight, diarrhea score, bacterial CFU and phage PFU in the feces were measured. Pigs of phage treated groups C (10(...
